Specialized in paintings of collective-farm life 1930s-40s.
Taught in Art Studio of VTsSPS, Moscow 1938-39; Potemkin Teacher-Training Institute, Moscow 1953.
Acting Chairman of organizing committee of USSR Artists' Union 1954.
Became a Soviet academician 1954.
Awarded Stalin prize 1947.
Author of book on monumental art (1931).
Died in Moscow 1993.
